Reflection to Return Loss Converter

This tool converts the Reflection Coefficient (Γ) into Return Loss (RL) in decibels. It’s used to evaluate how much power is reflected due to impedance mismatch in an RF system.

Formula

RL = -20 * log10(Γ)

Formula Explanation

  • Γ (Gamma) represents the reflection coefficient, a ratio of reflected to incident voltage.
  • Return Loss (RL) shows how well a load matches its transmission line — higher RL means a better match.

Example

Input: Γ = 0.316

Output: RL = 10 dB

Who uses it

Helpful for RF and antenna engineers analyzing return loss in cables, antennas, and other RF components.
